Alternator and assorted sadness

My C4 is upset that I left the country for 8 months.

After jumping through several hoops and getting 50 miles of run time for each, I had my first major failure.

Driving about a mile to pick up...

Smokin' Brakes

Hey guys,

I know, it's been awhile right? I was actually abroad in Guatemala for second semester, and then I got an internship in Thailand for the summer. The result? Very little Audi driving. ...

Yeah! I just struggled with it w/ the toolkit in my car in the dorm parking lot - my hands hurt!

I DID loosen the set screws fully and drop one...oops. That took a long ass time to find. And then I used my hammer and pliers a lot more than your FAQ advises :-p

But now i can start my car...

Glad to be in good company, I just had the most intense ignition switch failure ever...

Last night, after arriving at school, I parked my car. About an hour later I came out to move it, and the key made a weird CRUNCH when I turned it. And moved a bit too far. Now I can start the...

Man oh man, gas mileage is all about how you drive...

So I always keep track of my mileage. I have averaged between 18 and 21 MPG the entire time I've owned my car. I considered this ok, and never thought much of it.

This summer, I have a wicked...

I'd at least run through the archives of a Volvo forum to see if it's a common problem

You'd never figure out the solution to our lil' ignition switch bug on a Volvo forum! :-D

I took mine off the road for 8 months, and had no major issues...and that was over winter

Garage it, if you can, and put a tarp underneath it. You COULD fog the cylinders (I did) but 40 days isn't super long.

I'd be most concerned about critters, actually. Clog your exhaust, shove...

I remember reading this tech-article about heatsoak in the MAF and the benefits of insulation

I've never done it, however, the guy seems to claim it does wonders.

Hope this might help!

Aight, I'm going to leave it on and hit a dealer this weekend! Thanks for advice guys, much obliged

I had a 3rd party shop (I know, blasphemy) change the oil, which is probably how it got poorly attached. Still, I know from my own work I used to have 2 other twist-bolts which are now gone!

I find that my Quattro A6 loses speed when I "coast" faster than most cars I have driven

It could be the AWD. I guess using a broad definition, I could see the faster decelleration being called a "grab." The two basis for comparison are an F-150 pickup and a Toyota Avalon - they coast...

Lost my bellypan! Tragedy averted...but advice needed

Ok, so my bellypan fell off yesterday night. I was driving up a hill on my campus, and suddenly heard a "CHHHHH" of something dragging. Pulled over into a parking space, threw on my flashers, and...

I bought an aluminum nub on eBay from Germany for 12$ shipped...

It doesn't work well, but I've never used the radio function of my car, or in my house. That said, I think it looks really nice, and it was cheap.

Good luck,

Slightly low coolant...can it be due to temperature?

I replaced my air filter sucessfully today (heehaw) and was looking at my fluids. Coolant was slightly under min mark, typically it had ridden between min and high. Does anyone know the thermal...
