Default What Precautions you suggest?

I will be out of the country for vacations (Visiting my home town) and I wont be driving my car for 40 days or so?

What kind of things can I do to minimize the potential risk of not cranking it for that long?

Default I took mine off the road for 8 months, and had no major issues...and that was over winter

Garage it, if you can, and put a tarp underneath it. You COULD fog the cylinders (I did) but 40 days isn't super long.

I'd be most concerned about critters, actually. Clog your exhaust, shove some shirts in the gap between your hood and windsheild, and lay some trays with mothballs under the car. And realllly vacuum it out to make sure there's nothing to attract them.

They're durable cars, she'll be fine.

Default Second that. I wouldn't worry too much as long as it is well maintained

Idealy, if it sits you should start it every couple of weeks or so and @ the very least let it idle for about 5 min. I have a 100 & an A6. I have let my 100 sit for as long as 7 months without doing anything(no flames please) and other than a jump start, it was fine. Actually it was nice to see the car started. It stumbled @ first, (gas probably went bad)but after a couple of minutes and a few revs. It was like I never let it sit. I almost felt like a demi-god, resurecting a soul. These cars are very resiliant (sp?) 40 days is nothing. Have a carefree time and your Audi will be fine when you return. I do agree with both Dr.G and llero. If you can fill the tank some more and keep it in the garage. Regardless, you'll be fine.

Default 40 days is dick all.

If critters are a concern protect against that, but mechanically the car doesn't need anything. Worst case is a dead battery when you return, but unless it's a good trickle charger you risk overcharging and drying it out, so I'd just leave it be.
