I've yet to see anything other than Mobil 1 5W-30 or 10W-30 at my local Costco's. If yours stocks M1 0W-40, you're lucky!

Castrol Syntec 0W-30 (a.k.a., 'German Castrol') would be a much better choice as far as a 30-weight oil goes. It carries VW 502.00, 503.01 and 505.00 ratings as well as others from Mercedes and BMW....

Just make sure it's the Synpower MST 5W-30, regular Synpower 5W-30 does not meet the VW specs.

...three times (IIRC), pause for a second or two and then make one final wipe. At least that is what happens in my wife's '05 S4.

IIRC, the stock blades are essentially encased in rubber...

...they don't have the exposed articulated metal frames like the old-school blades did. Stock blades have performed well on my wife's S4 so far this winter here in MN.
