there arn't any sensors or warnings that are going to pop up on the dash, audi/vw's have magic p/s fluid that dissapears. I would check the boots on the ends of the p/s rack to make sure your rack...

one advantage is that they are small so they build boost alot quicker that a big turbo, cuts way down on the turbo lag. But they are small so youre not going to make a crazy bunch of power.

just a thought.

i've seen tons of cases where the ect will short out to -40'c. This can cause a hard start condition just a thought. I'm sure the ect has been replaced in the past but the new updated style is green....

sounds like a classic boost leak. check all the hoses and clamps between the maf and the throttle body.

mmmmmm

the ldp just tests the seal of your gas tank. If you have a leak to the atmosphere and fumes are not being kept in the system it sets the light. I personally don't think it would affect your gas...

just an idea

i've seen a couple cases where an injector would stick wide open and just poor fuel into the cylinder, chances of this being the cause is definatly slim. Just food for thought.

why did he replace the valves? did the t-belt brake and bend the valves? and the wire you are seeing on the maff connector is normal, thats the way it's supposed to be. theres a only a few possible...

all you have to do is take off the intake hose going from the air box to the y-pipe. Then disconnect the secondary air pipe from the combi valve. The ect's right there. they should charge you an hour...

i would point at the camshaft adjuster first, just my 2 cents. It's the only thing i've seen make a noise like that, then again i've never heard one with a valve cover off.

is it a clattering noise? how many miles on the car? cam shaft adjusters are a common issue on 1.8t's. try putting your ear towards the back of the engine. If its the aduster you'll hear the noise...
