The writeup I see shows him drilling into them from the top.

If you remove the bump stop it's identical to the other top one and you can drill/tap it and put on the grease fitting. I tested it on the old one, and it works. The problem is I can't see in...

That's what I'm thinking

The S4 is a lot heavier up front, so the springs could feel stiffer on an A4. I'm leaning towards the Vogtlands because they seem to be the best price/performance wise. So long as they're not...

Technically, you should get them turned or at least use some sandpaper on them, but (more)

if they're still within spec (i.e. thick enough) I've just slapped new pads on before. It's not the best way to do it but it would probably work.

I had a popping noise when using the brakes in my 1999 A4 (more)

and it disappered when I swapped the stock calipers out for Boxster calipers, so you could check the brakes out.

As for the noise when you turn the wheel, I don't know about that year of A6 but it...

Yes. I'm in the process of piecing together a Boxster brake upgrade myself

You've got two options: Buy the upgrade as a complete kit from a tuner (<a href="http://www.purems.com/products/product.php/II=1432">http://www.purems.com/products/product.php/II=1432</a> for...

If you're using OEM pads, there's no reason they should squeel/squeak

Think about it. How many cars would Audi sell if everyone who took one on a test drive heard "squeeeeeeeek" when they rolled up to a stoplight?

Possible things to try:

Re-bed pads
Apply disc...

I'd add that other than looks, there's no point to slotted/crossdrilled on the street

If you don't track the car, save the money and get better brake pads. The pads matter much more than what type of hole or groove is in the rotor.

High perf. street brake pad advice for Boxster caliper fronts, stock rears

Even with the PB blaster I managed to shatter one of the manifold->turbo bolts

Luckily it was a clean break and I was swapping the turbo anyway.
