2003 A6 Squealing Brakes
I have a 2003 A6 twin turbo 2.7 quattro. The brakes frequently squeal/squeak while stopping. The front and rear brakes have both been replaced under warranty and I am being told by the Audi service department that the squeak/squeal is normal for this type of vehicle. They also claim it is normal during cold and/or wet climate operation. It does not happen 100% of the time;however, frequently enough to be extremely annoying. I cannot imagine driving this car like this. Does the service managers response make sense?

This problem can be fixed, the pad backs, and the caliper pad seating surfaces...
need to be cleaned. Then apply a strip of aluminum stick-on anti-squeel shim (NAPA) onto the back of the outboard pad. Apply a thin layer of caliper lube to the contact areas on the backs of both pads, then reassemble. Also ensure the caliper carrier pins/bushings are well greased. The pads often wear such that the inner pad in particular, developes a taper. Replacing the rubber caliper carrier pin bushings with bronze parts will prevent this from occuring. The shims and caliper lube usually stops the noise. Performing the pad break-in bedding procedure is required also.

If you're using OEM pads, there's no reason they should squeel/squeak
Think about it. How many cars would Audi sell if everyone who took one on a test drive heard "squeeeeeeeek" when they rolled up to a stoplight?
Possible things to try:
Re-bed pads
Apply disc brake quiet to back of pads
Grease all the sliding parts
File down/chamfer the leading/trailing edges of the pads (I would do the others first)
