I knew I could count on you. Any others care to chime in? Ross-Tech?

Yes there is one device in common, this is obvious. However I like to test parts to confirm. Does Vag-Com have the ability to do this? In other words, can it test like VAS 5051?

Thanks!

providing you've eliminated the obvious, like exhaust system leak etc.

the next most likely place is the crankcase ventilation system. Inspect all hoses under the hood, pay close attention to the hoses towards the rear of the valve cover and under the intake manifold.

Regarding your headlights. Vag-Com reset should take care of that.

A little oil in the intake tract is ok. A well oiled machine :)

the only way to check a inner cv joint is to remove it, take it apart, clean and inspect it for wear

if the inner or outer part of the cv joint has dimples on it where the balls ride or if the cage is cracked. Replace it.

If the sway bar is cracked (common on TT's) it will need to be replaced.

A4/A6 could be lower front control arms (the straight one) The ball joint looses its' lube and starts to squeak.

In the meantime, closely inspect around the intake manifold for rotted/frayed hoses. As a rule,

stalling at idle indicates a vacuum leak after the throttle plate. Many cars here have had this problem. Usually an easy fix.. It may be a dirty TB too.

Easy little quick test for the secondary air pump.

Engine cold. Locate the SAP inlet pipe, it gets it's air from the air filter box. Twist the pipe from the AF box (about 1/4 turn) Start car, go back under hood, place thumb/palm of hand over the pipe...

Nick, it's ok to use the "subject box" to enter new text and if you run out of room conti-

nue here. At this time with all my wisdom and knowledge of 30+ yrs with VAG I'd say your secondary air pump is running but may be going south and your EGR "combi valve" needs to be replaced. The...
