Default Follow up to yesterdays MPG question,,,, I broke down and called the dealership,,,

Here is a paraphrase of what they said...
Since the car had not been driven more than 3 miles in a row for a couple weeks, and had sat without being driven at all some days, the computer had adapted the intake manifold to run rich because the engine was never heating up. As soon as I drove it 20 miles, and got it up to a good operating temperature, the computer would have adapted the manifold to the new driving style the next time I started the vehicle... the MPG went up the second day because I finally warmed the car up.

What do you think of that for an explaination.?.

What they said doesn't really make sense.

Default Their wording could be better, but the concept is correct and could explain your

issue.

Default Your best bet on MPG is to drive and drain the tank...

Get gas and fill the whole tank, clear your trip count, drive until the gas is out, get gas again, divide the miles driven by how much gas you get, the answer equals your MPG over the tank. I find the computer in the car is never right
