It was common to replace on the C5 & earlier...

It was common to replace on the C5 & earlier models with timing belts because you had to pull off the front of the engine and the water pump was right there.

No need to replace until it fails...

Sorry to hear that you have to drop the engine so early. I think that the list above is right on target. Definitely re-seal the whole thing and I would also take this opportunity to use a borescope...
