The transmission finally went (for the 2nd time). There's not enough value in the car to warrant fixing it.

2001, cold weather package, 168,000 miles, strong engine, new alternator, new heater...

Sure, the M is going to be faster than an A8L...but compare the A8L to a 740, that's the comparable BMW.

Very stable, very connected...but none of that "wrapped in gauze" feeling you get in most luxury sedans.

$5k-$6k for a factory rebuilt tranny. At MINIMUM.

Alternately, take a week and visit beautiful Chicago.

Less than $4k with Tozo and it'll be done right.
