Default Transmission repair needed in Dallas, TX

Can anyone recommend a good shop in Dallas to replace my late 2000 transmission? I lost my reverse at 125K, along with some cold weather squeal.
My garage wants to R&R a factory rebuild from the dealer. Is this the best way to go?
What should I expect to pay?

Default $5k-$6k for a factory rebuilt tranny. At MINIMUM.

Alternately, take a week and visit beautiful Chicago.

Less than $4k with Tozo and it'll be done right.

Default The rebuilt unit direct from ZF distributor is $4100. Audi dealers get $7200 for same. plus labor.

ZF's distributor warranty is 12mos, unlimited miles, $40/hr towards shop costs for repairs. This rate and warranty are for the distributor near ME .. yours may be different.

I just had mine done 2 weeks ago.

I waited too long and could not go to Chicago 8(

Honestly, it'd be cheaper to ship it up to Chicago and have Gabor fix it.

Have seen rebuilt units direct from ZF for as low as $2700, plus shipping, plus labor. Thus lowest is about $3200-$3500, can go up substantially from there.

Default ?? I thought those $2700 trannys were from Phoenix Transmission or something .. the ones that break.

Weren't those the infamous eBay transmissions ...

Are you up for a visit to Chicago this winter? It's probably your best bet.

Default Well hopefully ...

... ZF knows how to rebuild their own transmissions! It's very good so far.
