I am accustomed to a Bentley that I can refer to for various repair procedures.

Is there one for the B8 platform? The Bentley publishers website goes up to B7.

The ground connection on the valve cover came to mind when I was reading your post, but it's a bit of a stretch when it only happens on that cylinder. I'd test the wires to the coils.
