The Immobilizer III chip in the keyfob, which that car has, can only be programmed once.

If the seller gave you a used fob with a cut key, that's the problem. You'll need a new keyfob half with a new chip in it. The fob is 2 pieces -- one with the buttons which are reusable and one with...

Why? Was there a DTS there before? If so, they probably reused the stock bolt

which is not only torque-to-yield but also now too short with the thickness added by the DTS.

Just a guess.

The other way is via VAG-COM/VCDS but with no keys at all you can't use that.

Why didn't any of the writeups mention this: =\

(only half kidding)

Took me forever to get the upper control arms out, too. Then I got smart and realized that if I used my jack to push the...

Thanks for all the replies. So basically the hub assembly is just stuck to the CV?

4Driver4 has it read correctly. At this point it's not a matter of clearance -- I'm not even there yet. I expected the hub and brake assembly to slide right off but I guess that was wishful thinking....

I don't necessarily disagree with that, but

if you were wrenching on or buying a used one you know you'd prefer one that's spent its life in California. ;-)

Sounds like he might not have readily available 'net access while he's here.

If you do, could you please pass it to me?

Can I come? Huh? Can I? ;-)

What are your plans and schedule while you're here? Check your PM's at the other place.

The Group 48 Die Hard Int'l is the same battery (actually fewer CCA) than the Interstate MTP-93 and

the Costco Group 48. I mean same. Same look, same drain tube with the same packaging.

Except Interstate charges extra for the drain tube while Sears and Costco provide it for free.

100+ for the...
