This worked, thanks to all!

This worked -- thanks to everyone who responded!! It has been a dream to drive, the 3.0 TDI is a great engine and I've been amazed at how well it performs in the 160-220 km/h range.

Diesel over...

Hand car wash in downtown?

I moved to Chicago 5 months ago -- anyone know of a GOOD place to get a hand car wash or detail near downtown that won't cost $50? I've been to Gold Coast Car Wash a couple of time, and they're...

Chicago detailing?

Hi everyone --

Just moved to Chicago and am desperately looking for a good full-service auto detailing place!

I live inside the loop and took it to one place run by a guy named Juan (united...

I read somewhere that the "lifetime" meant it was designed for what a single owner...

might use it for in the first "life" of the car, as in, around 80,000-100,000 miles.

I doubt you'll find an MD willing to risk his license so you can save $135...

that is called FRAUD!!!

What you might be able to do, however, is get a relative (you trust a LOT) who lives in another state and get the car titled in their name and in their state. It's a...

How worn are your tires?

If your tires are significantly worn down, putting on a single brand new tire might hurt the quattro system due to the difference in tire diameter (worn tread vs brand new tread).

I wouldn't want...

2008 Cayenne S model trumps 2006 Cayenne S model...

Dealers are willing to take big hits off the sticker for the 2006s still on their lot due to the upcoming redesign for the 2008 Cayenne. Not only is the front end being "freshened" to get rid of the...

all of those things... suspension, brakes, radiator...

are just pennies on the dollar for the manufacturer. Don't forget Audi isn't just merely adding the new components---they also save whatever money they would have spent on the "standard" components....

I think the price point would have to be $85,000, to compete

with their own R8 and of course the Cayenne Turbo. I don't know about where you live, but I've seen a number of Cayenne Turbos (and a Turbo S every now and then), which would lead me to believe that...

I'm not claiming that this is news to everyone else,

but it's news to me at least. Your factual assertion, however, strengthens my own point that Audi, as a luxury marque, is sadly lagging behind its own so-called bargain sibling in terms of providing...

OK, if Audi brought that stateside, my faith in brand-marketing would be restored :)

What a monster!! I wonder if it would be rated to tow a Baja 405? :)

V10 TDI, Audi screws us again...

I can't believe it... first, the Touareg came out as a VW, and only years later did VAG give us the Q7.

Now the Touareg comes with a V10 TDI for $70,000, but where's the love for the Q7???

This...

We're not disagreeing with one another--

In his question of whether $10,500 is a "good deal," though, is the inherent problem that $10,500 is not actually the final cost to get a great car.

For $14,000, maybe he should be looking at a...

2nd, or at least get a comprehensive aftermarket warranty...

It may cost $10,500 to you now, but it'll still be as expensive as a $45,000+ car to repair.

Just keep a can or 3 of compressed air around

Great tool for dusting interiors without worrying about scratching surfaces. Pricey, but worth it, imo.

Definitely sure.

I used to use M1 0w-40 in my 3000GTs. WalMart was always the cheapest place to buy it, unless some other place was having a sale.

I now use M1 5w-30 in my Liberty. WalMart is still the cheapest...

For what you want,

the answer is no. Your fuel pump is adequate for now. Unless your plugs are fouled, changing them won't make a difference. Don't believe the marketing hype.

Pulleys are a different matter, but...

Yes, true.

I thought the gift tax exclusion would be too technical for a car forum, so I omitted it for the sake of simplicity.

But you are correct. Any more in-depth and I'll have to start billing out :)

No, there's really not. I don't make up the tax law, I just interpret it.

A gift of a diamond ring is just as taxable as a gift of a car, yacht, house, cash, etc.

Who here remembers the case where Oprah gave away cars (or suvs, maybe) to all of her guests on one...
