Default So is $10,500 a good deal for an A6 4.2...also chip question

I just picked one up with all options except cold weather. 100k on the clock and everything seems great. Only thing I know the car needs is the timing belt changed and the glovebox has a broken hinge. I will be performing maintenance myself, so besides parts I am not too concerned.

Looking around it seems Upsolute sells a chip with a claimed 319hp. Anyone have experiance with this particular ECU?

Default seem like a good deal, but you get what you pay for.....

end links/control arms are 1700, timing is 1000-1400,

I personaly will never buy a Audi that is not CPO.

my $.02

Welcome to Audi. 100K is no issue if well cared for. Do the belt now and then enjoy.

Depends on year, options and condition. But if the car is 'clean' I'd say thats a decent deal.

Default 2nd, or at least get a comprehensive aftermarket warranty...

It may cost $10,500 to you now, but it'll still be as expensive as a $45,000+ car to repair.

Default true, but a few $K in maintenence/upgrades, you can be driving a great car.>

For $13-14k, what other car would compare?

Every car needs maintenence, and sometimes it's expensive, so why not pick a car you'll really enjoy driving?

Default We're not disagreeing with one another--

In his question of whether $10,500 is a "good deal," though, is the inherent problem that $10,500 is not actually the final cost to get a great car.

For $14,000, maybe he should be looking at a car with the maintenance done already, or one that has a warranty.

Also, while it is true that every car needs maintenance, and that sometimes it can be expensive, it is also generally true that expensive cars need expensive maintenance. The fact that the 4.2 has depreciated does not mean the maintenance costs will now compare to a car that was $10,500 when new.

Default Good Deal!! As for modding it i would go with:

Giac Engine Chip And Tiptronic Chip- $1000
Audi RS6 Sport Exhaust- $650
Ram Air Kit for LLTEK- $166

Theses mods transform your A6 from a luxury car to a sport sedan. You should be pushing about 355HP with those mods. I have 330HP without the Chips and the chips claims 25HP. Good Luck and I hope you love your 4.2 as much as i love mine.

PS: If you wanted a moddable A6 you should have gone with the 2.7T.

Quick Reply: So is $10,500 a good deal for an A6 4.2...also chip question
