I have a early 2008 S6 also without the led strip driving lights. I would not bother to make any changes as knowing Audi, any modification may likely have unintended consequences!

I believed Petrocan started to add ethanol in their gas last year. I stick with Esso only. In BC all gas pumps display if their gas has ethanol, but not Alberta.

My s6 v10 also runs at 1100 for a minute or so then falls back to around 800 until warming up. I normally would not move the Audi untilled it runs at 800 or less.
