I was at Costco today and saw this banner. Great news.

WOW! That is good news! I don't want to see any of my fellow Audiworlders dragging the hose across the roof of their car just to get the next pump! If you have been to a Costco gas station (at least in Oregon) you know exactly what I am talking about...The first time I saw it I wanted to get out and get it on video, then I realized each island had at least one person doing it.

Not sure I'd event take my since-donated 1997 Kia Sportage there! I recently saw a petition for boycotting Koch Brothers' holdings, including Chevron and 76, but that represents both the stations of my small-town village. Oh well.

I checked the toptier website, but regrettably this currently only applies to Costco's in the U.S. and NOT Canada.

It is correct, Costco gas in Canada is not top tier, I learned it the hard way with my previous car (allroad 4.2) using premium gas both catalysts jammed. Since then I only use Esso or Petro-Canada with 0 ill effects.

Down in Cali here, used Costco premium on a '03 anniversary GTI and '07 Tacoma (reg not prem) most their lives, when it came to smog tests, ithey passed with flying colors, just as the day they were new. No issues for me!

I believed Petrocan started to add ethanol in their gas last year. I stick with Esso only. In BC all gas pumps display if their gas has ethanol, but not Alberta.

Where do you think Costco gets their gas? From the Costco refinery? In Alberta there are only three refineries, and all produce "Top Tier" gas. I'd bet that there are no formulation differences between the gas purchased at Costco and one of majors. I've been running Costco gas for years will no ill effects. I do not run it in the Porsche b/c I prefer ethanol-free gas for that car.

Now if they would just sell diesel, many of us would be a lot happier!
