maybe you should ride a bicycle instead?

it is not good for the car to be repeatably driven such short distances. The fuel mixture will run rich when you first start the car, fuel consumption will be higher.

Im right at that mileage on my 98. Axle boots and control arms are the most prominent problems.

I would do some minor maintenance items like changing the fuel filter. Other than that you should be good for awhile.

How much should a mechanic charge to install the cv boot repair kit?

I spent 2 hours trying to get the collar bolt off, no luck. My mechanic wants $150, is this reasonable?

I live in Bloomington, i dont know of any trustworthy indy shops around here.

If its a major service, it might be worth it to tow it up to the city, plenty of great shops up there. Especially if you have AAA.
