Correction* It would leak/burn when the valve covers were LEAKING, not off. :)

I've owned the car since 2000 so I'm pretty confident about the oil changes being regular throughout that time period.

It would leak/burn when the valve covers were off, so it might have been low...

I've got (another) serious problem with this A4. It's a 1997 Quattro 2.8 Liter.

I've read up on this topic (the oil light flashing) quite a bit on this site and in the Haynes...

Loose Steering Wheel... is that a bad steering rack?

I've got a steering wheel with some play in it. Is that a symptom of a bad steering rack? I have been leaking power steering fluid as well and I just replaced the power steering pump.

It burned oil, but alot of that had to do with the valve cover gasket. I guess I'll see now....

This is bad

I replaced my valve cover gasket and the inside.... not so good. It looks like this (hope this works, i'm a rookie poster, long time leacher)
