Also it's going to need a new brake fluid reservoir, the old one has a major crack in the top. Brakes work fine, surprisingly!

Service position lifts the arms several inches; if this is what OP has then I was wrong. The alternating park positions which I mentioned only moves the arm about three mm on every other actuation...

On the D3 A8s at least, when the wipers park they alternate parking with the blades flexed up and next time down. This is to minimize the rubber's "memory".
