Thanks for your input. I'm also somewhat concerned about the heavier weight of the TDI engine and the effects on handling. This is probably not an easy or cost effective solution, but I might be dead...

Installed GEN II all four two weeks ago. The difference is obvious. Much more solid on the road....well worth the extra money in my opinion.
