Default 3.0L TDI 2001 allroad

Has anyone tried to mate the Audi/VW 3.0L TDI engine and transmission with the 2001-2004 allroad? I am wondering if there is a fit using say a 2012 VW Touareg 3.0L TDI engine and transmission to swap out the 2.7L biturbo from a 2001 allroad. If it is in fact possible, are there also electronic components that would require changing as well?

Default Q7 3.0L TDI

I should have also mentioned the Q7 3.0L TDI engine and transmission as a possibility.

Interesting idea, but you will also need the ECU and TCU from the donor car.

Also rear differential.

Then there are some questions regarding the driveshaft, feont/rear axles, and even the mount points for the engine.

On another note, Europe offered 2.5 TDI for the C5 Allroad. If the 3.0 TDI is just an evolution of that engine, you shouldn't have problems fitting it into the engine bay.

Scott at http://www.advancedautomotion.com/ was working on doing exactly this, I'm not sure if he has completed it yet.

Thanks for your input. I'm also somewhat concerned about the heavier weight of the TDI engine and the effects on handling. This is probably not an easy or cost effective solution, but I might be dead before the 3.0 TDI AWD (and 6sp manual?) is an option in non-SUV Audis and VWs.
