Just got my new 08 A4
Picked up my '08 A4 today after returning my '06 A4. Returned: '06 A4 2.0TQ w/Tip, sunroof, premium, heated seats & wood trim, Quartz. My 2008: A4 2.0TQ Tip, Convenience, Premium, heated seats, Silver metallic.
I am shocked how different the interior looks w/o the wood and with the new radio - even the ***** are different. I like the Silver paint (thought I would hate it). The steering wheel is the 4-spoke w/o the ventilated leather everyone hated (I liked it) - but it is fine. The weird thing is the Tiptronic paddles on the wheel - I did not expect that - thought it came only with some package I don't have. The damned paddles get in the way of how I am used to grasping the wheel (by the cross bar, not the perimeter). Overall I am very pleased - I was afraid the great build quality (doors sounding like bank vaults, etc.) was only on my particular '06 car - but happily this one is great too. Oh well, after months of love/hate over Audi I am continuing in the fold and the RDX is a distant passing thought. More later.

Good way to lose your thumbs if the airbags ever go off...
...I suggest you permanently adopt the proper way of holding a wheel by the outside edges. Is the US 2008 A4 the new B8 platform or the same B7 platform as your 2006?
