Default Suspension Alignments - Audi Dealership vs Private Wheel & Tire Shop

I am looking to add Eibach Sportline Springs to my 2006 A4, and am not sure where to do the installation and alignment. (19" Wheels Already Installed)

The audi dealership can get the parts and preform the alignment for a much higher cost then the private wheel and tire shop that did my wheels. I would rather do the Eibach Spring install with the wheel & tire shop for a lower cost, but wanted to make sure that I was not missing something critical by not going with the audi dealership.

Anyone gone through an suspension install and alignment recently?

Thanks for the insight

Default Just look for a reputable alignment shop. I've never had a problem taking my car to independents.

Good ones tend to take more interest in doing a good job than the dealer anyway.

Default Agree on good independent.

I've had lots of work done at independent shops, just find a good one. Heck, I even had an alignment done at Big-O and they did it perfectly and gave me a nice print out of the before/after results.

That was my thinking as well, just wanted to double check, as I am new to the modification process.

Thanks for the info!

Ahh the Big-O I might just end up there if I keep going in circles.

Audi was asking $300 just for the alignment. Add in the Eibach Spring installation, and labor and they estimated $1000 total.

Seems like a lot of coin for lowering 2"

Default That's way out of line.

Independent shops seems to charge from around $70 to $110 for the alignment. I think Big-O did mine for around $70 but it might have been a bit less. $300 is highway robbery.

As to the springs, not sure Big O can handle that but maybe they can, I've never used them for anything but tires/wheels.

I could not believe that estimate. For $300 that had better come with an alignment and a happy ending

Default It's not where but who...

Go talk to the Alignment guy if he's a smuck then look somewhere else. Talk to him, express your concerns and gauge his reaction.
