Default So.... back from the dragstrip round 4!

Just back from the track.... got 4 passes.....

Conditions:
62F, 70% humidity, 29.92BP DA of 1900....

Car.... 2010 Audi S4 S-tronic, sportsdif, 19's, 1/2 tank 100oct, full wt. 2,220 miles....
Mods... Strat intake and 100 octane APR tune...

I wanna start by saying I have not talked to APR and plan on calling to discuss this with them in the AM. I have been running an APR tune in the B5 since 2001 or so with excellent results, no issues, and always excellent service mostly through ECS in Ohio. So, I am by no means making any negative accusations towards APR, so please refrain from bashing the company! That is not what this post is about and I actually debated talking to them before posting but they have always been full disclosure and this is not a post to make them look bad just state facts! Thanks!

Installed the chip around 2:30 pm and per Arin let the car run for 30+ minutes. This was requested and agreed on by me since I had 15-20 miles of 93 fuel in the car when I added the 100 octane. So I did this then took the car for a 30-45 minute ride.... Car seemed stronger up top but about the same down low.... this is what I expected but it honestly didn't pull as strong as I thought it would from the seat of the pants.... So then drove to the track and got there with about 1/2 tank gas and car was full weight same as before, but most of the other times I have had a quarter tank of 93 octane. My previous best was 12.81 and the car has run a few 12.85 and a few low 12.9's..... The best trap ever was 110.55.... When I ran 12.81 I trapped 109.74 I tried to take the car last weekend with no changes but 100 octane fuel on the factory tune but got a flat on the way! I am very dissapointed that I didn't get to do this!

Yes, I am dissappointed.... Yes, I am very very surprised. The car shifted fine at 7K each time and only slightly bogged once off the line and it obviously didn't cost too much as the car was very consistent which it has always been.... So I don't think there are any issues.... Won't speculate but don't believe this car is making the additional horsepower as advertised... The paperwork I got clearly stated 100 octane tune on it. Again, this is not a thread to bash APR so please don't do that.

At this point I will talk to APR and see what they think.... If needed I will buy another ECU and take them both to the track and make passes on the same day.... I also now have a vag-com so I can log the results of both ecu's... I am also holding off on putting on the exhaust again, for now....

I also want to see some results form Voltron to see what the 93 tune does...

AGAIN, please refrain from any bashing...

Sorry to hear that Ron...Though you did make a 12.6 pass I think something isn't quite right yet. I would cycle through a few tanks of 100 octane and obviously speak with APR before you run again. I'm sure you will make a 12.4-12.5 pass off this tune.

cheers,

David

Sucks, something not right. I am curious why you did not get 93 APR tune. You have to always drive around with 100 if you have 100 SW.

Yes 12.67 is still fast but when you run on average of mid 12.8's this is a .2 pickup.... That is not what I expected and based on numbers not what I should have gotten.... I agree the tune may need to "adapt" just not sure it is going to pick up too much more but I hope I am wrong.... Thanks though!

Bruce, Agreed.... I went with 100 octane because I am into running the best possible times given the mods available at this time.... I don't daily drive this car nor will it be winter drive.... I always drive the B5 and one of the Mustangs with 100 octane as the tunes require it and I choose to do it.... I have 4 stations very close to the house that sell it at the pump.... It is 5.99 a gallon but I go through a tank here and there as I have an A4 for a daily driver so it is what I choose to run....

Agreed... They are already in contact with me! Will work it out and the car will run the numbers it should!

12.6 doesn't sound too bad to me. What were you guys expecting with stock supercharger and a tune?

I would expect around 12.4 for his setup.

Yes 12.67 at 111.10 is a very good time.... However, keep in mind I ran a 12.81 at 109.44 and also trapped 110.55, all of which I have slips and videos for with just the strat intake and 93 octane gas on the factory tune. So based on the posted dyno results I should have picked up more than .1-.2 and 1.5-2.0 mph.... I was expecting a 12.4ish pass at 113+ honestly....
