Update:
Well, we finally got to pulling the engine Saturday. Obviously cylinder 2 is shot, but it also appears the corresponding head is bent, maybe from the heat? Valves are shot.
Now, the intersting part. As we looked at the tops of other pistons, you can literally see them starting to deteriate around the cylinder walls. I know that i have pushed the car hard, running nothing but 104 for years and high boost. I guess 75k of such conditions finally took its tole. Enjoy the pics, as much as this sucks having the opportunity to tear down the gine and rebuild is proving to be a great learning experience.
Most of the parts have been collected. Found a 3 liter crank, Pauter rods are in my hands, and pistons should be here in a few weeks. In addition, 2.8 heads, RS4 cams, complete RS4 upper intake / throttle body will be installed. Now, if i can just figure out turbos we'll be on our way.
Lastly, I can't say enough about the guys at Autosportwerks. Bryan has been taking extra time to walk me through the process in the hopes of me finally understanding how these damn things work. A true undertaking! Its always a pleasure working with those guys!
