R8's in Sonoma

I ran over to Sonoma Thursday to see if Audi would be at the Sonoma Mission Inn were the last leg of the California Mille had just finished. Since they were a sponsor of the event and had debuted the R8 in San Francisco last Sunday, I looked forward to seeing an R8 in person again!
What a sight to pull in to the entry courtyard and see two R8's, an RS4, an S6, and a S8 all lined up in front of an AOA VIP tent. I finally got to see a car which is very close to what I ordered.
Daytona Grey/ Silver blade/ 6 speed/ Black interior and black alcantera headliner. There was no carbon fiber on either car(the other being the Phantom Black car I saw last Sunday).
This time I got a chance to inspect the car very close for at least 45 minutes. The more I studied the details about this car the more enticing it became. I really fell more in love with the styling and workmanship.
After just coming in contact with Ferrari's of the highest order three weeks ago... I'm sorry Ferrari... Audi "is" the benchmark of quality and thoughtful attention to detail in the new R8! I have a client who has a new 599 Fiorano and I'm sorry... I know it's faster but, the R8 just oozes class!!
Sia... if you read this, you know what I mean. There has never been another Elsa Benitez!
The driving position is absolutely fabulous and one detail I'm still fascinated with is how the driver's door grab handle integrates into the dash. No picture I've seen yet shows how well the two elements are combined. The storage area behind the seat would take a thrashing as it has been described as capable of handling not one, but two golf bags! Sorry... that's a load of crap! I'd say more like three to four grocery bags at the most.
Well sorry about the pic... (camera phone) and I'll keep posting the status when my delivery date gets closer to being finalized. My dealer, like all the others that will be getting an R8, said that Audi is being very tight lipped on the allotment. I'm apparently #5 for the V8 which means I'll most likely be getting my car in 2008 if I don't take one of the the R8's the dealer ordered as a showroom car.
