After dinner, what do I see but another silver Q7 parked next to mine! But as I walk closer...

An MDX parked next to the Q! I had to snap a few pictures since we've had this MDX vs. Q7 talk...

Side by side. The MDX didn't have any roof rails, or dolphin fin, but appeared to be slightly wider and sits taller.

They definitely have many similar design features.

The MDX isn't that bad looking from the rear...

But whoa - I think the Q7 definitely has a nicer "face"!

Default Wow nice pictures! I am surprised to see that MDX has a bigger a$$ than the Q and the nose of the

MDX is just ugly.

Agree, someone at Acura design copied the Pontiac Aztec front.

Default Well certainly some similarities... Aztec front not really....

Not seeing such huge difference like everyone else I guess (hey the title even indicated it wasn't obvious from a distance). Neither are exactly sporty vehicles... Still would be nice to get a 2nd A5 or so:-).

I sure like the Audi front (which was always controversial in other models) but the back is little bit boring. The MDX back seems almost like a (bad) copy (tail-lights).

Here's the Aztec front (just saw one today at the ski slopes). Yeah about everyone would say pretty ugly .<ul><li><a href="http://www.automobilemag.com/multimedia/photo_gallery/0609_a%2B2007_acura_mdx%2B02.jpg">Acura front</a></li></ul>

Default Actually, Acura designers say the MDX was inspired by the Wallypower 118 yacht ...

<center><img src="http://www.wally.com/Upload/i/img_118WP_new_002.jpg"></center><p>
You can see the boat's angularity on some of Acura's recent concept cars which they say are also influenced by this company's powered vessels , including the possible NSX replacement shown last week in Detroit .<ul><li><a href="http://www.wallyyachts.com">Wally Yachts web site</a></li></ul>

Default WOW!! Regardless of what you think of the MDX or Wally Yachts, they have a incredible amount...

of focus on form/funtion/design. If you scroll through the Wally Power 118 pics, and then watch the video, they have some very innovative ideas. They're sailing yachts are even more beautiful.

I do see a lot of influence between the Wally 118 and the MDX prototype, but they obviously toned down the final design.

Thanks for that link Lucien4 - I had never heard of them before.
