*******GTG Recap - Thanks everyone for coming!!!*******
What a great turnout!
Just a few words of thanks first:
-Thank you to <b>Phil Yiu</b> from <a href="www.detailersdomain.com">Detailers Domain</a> for his awesome box of goodies to hand out as prizes for our contest!
-Thank you to <b>Grapeking</b> for helping tally the ballots for the contest...nothing worse than trying to do that by myself with the wind blowing!
-Thank you <b>everyone</b> for coming to enjoy a nice evening!!!
So, the event started a bit late...I was the lone car at about 5:20 (I know, I said 5:30 but usually there are early folks that come to give the last minute touchup before the masses arrive). I had a chance to shoot this pic showing our "host" sign in the background...
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/hliu55/GTG/Chilis_3.jpg">
Good location, since there was so much room to park. BTW, we were not there officially, since the management there changed last year and the new manager got the AMC legal team to say that we could not use their lot for any events. Bah! We were just there to go to Chili's, just like everyone else!!!
I also had some time to take a few pictures of our prizes that Phil was kind enough to send:
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/hliu55/GTG/Chilis_1.jpg">
Don't worry Phil, they know where the stuff came from, I put labels on everything...
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/hliu55/GTG/Chilis_2.jpg">
Note: I tried to placed them on my trunk or roof for this picture, but since I had just done the Menzerna FMJ the night before, they just kept sliding around!!!
Anyway, folks started arriving in droves through about 6:15 or so, including JamieO and his new B7 S4 (with the RS4 grille)...
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/hliu55/GTG/Chilis_4.jpg">
...meangreens4 with his B5 S4 and RS4 bumper...
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/hliu55/GTG/Chilis_7.jpg">
...newcomer resnone1 <i>(his very first post on AW was his reply that he was coming to the GTG!)</i> in his red A3 (with red pinstriped wheels)...
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/hliu55/GTG/Chilis_5.jpg">
...A6TwinTurbo with his very sinister looking A6 (in stark contrast to the silver car on the left)...
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/hliu55/GTG/Chilis_9.jpg">
...and of course, I did not get a full shot of smashtheqube's beautiful white RS4, but I snuck in a shot of those rims and brakes...
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/hliu55/GTG/Chilis_10.jpg">
...those awesome flares and sideskirts...
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/hliu55/GTG/Chilis_11.jpg">
...his Milltek exhaust (which was music to my ears)...
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/hliu55/GTG/Chilis_12.jpg">
...and the check-engine sticker on the rear window :^D
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/hliu55/GTG/Chilis_13.jpg">
...the only "group" shot I took in daylight, mostly the B5 S4s (I think smashtheqube is doing some Tai Chi on the right side of this pic???)...
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/hliu55/GTG/Chilis_6.jpg">
...glad I took that shot before the guy in the Lexus came as screwed up the parking-by-model lineup!!!
So we finaly had enough people to do some ballots, and the results are as follows:
Best A3: resnone1 (red A3)
Best A4: Murphy'sSidekic (gray A4 with OZ's)
Best S4/RS4: smashtheqube (white RS4, and yes, there was more than one RS4 showing)
Best A6: jimmyc83 (green A6...thanks for everyone that voted for me, but I disqualified myself...I forgot to mention that...)
Best A8: A84Life (black A8)
Best TT: meem (red TT)
Cleanest Car: meem (of course...but now he is not qualified for the next GTG...although he will probably still have the cleanest car!!!)
Dirtiest Car: Suffolk (white old-school)
Of course, I think everyone liked the prizes, and nothing is better than the thumbs-up on the Adams products from local "detailing-nut" meem!!!
Other notable points include:
-BasicSlvr showing up on his Harley (the D3 A8 is out of commission)
-a very pleasant woman walking by a couple of times asking to have one of the TT's (while they were inside Chili's dining)
-A4Rye wandering around the parking lot in a daze looking for a spare coil pack (LOL!!)
-Burlington's finest scoping out the lot a couple of times, then staking out all the routes out of the GTG location for some fresh kills (I think we forgot to warn the S4 guys that <i>tore</i> out of there around 8PM, sorry)
-the Red Sox winning the game last night!!!
It should be noted that most of the A4 and S4 crowd left early (empty spaces in the foreground), and the entire A6 and TT group stayed!!!
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/hliu55/GTG/Chilis_14.jpg">
I know...it's blurry...too lazy to break out the tripod)...
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/hliu55/GTG/Chilis_15.jpg">
Again, thanks all for coming!!! I hope to catch you at any of the upcoming events, which include:
6/10 - <a href="http://www.b5one.com/tdh5_register.shtml">Treffen de Hamster</a>
6/17 - <a href="http://www.naaclub.org/events/62/larz-anderson-german-car-day">German Car Day at Larz Anderson Museum</a>
8/4 - <a href="http://www.naaclub.org/events/67/august-2007-car-control-clinic">NAAC driving skills clinic at NHIS</a>
10/17&10/18 - <a href="http://www.naaclub.org/events/61/drivers-safety-school-at-nhis">NAAC driver's sasfety school at NHIS</a>
We'll look to put together another GTG later this summer. AQ6 had a great idea over dinner, perhaps a gathering at F1 in Braintree. We'll look over some dates/prices and get back to everyone shortly. Also, hopefully GBW will organize another GTG in Hartford so we can cruise as a group.
<i><b>Enjoy your Memorial Day, and keep it safe folks!!!</b></i>
