2001 a4 failed inspection.. help!
yesterday i went to bommarito audi is st. louis to get my inspection done on my new 2001 audi a4 1.8t quattro with 56k miles. they said it didn't pass and that it "failed MVI for play in RF outer tie rod end and missing bolt at sway bar link." they're saying its gonna cost $475. to be honest i really don't know what all that means. i just know $475 is way too much to pay for that. is there any cheaper way to get this taken care of? anyone know any good mechanics that do audi in st. louis?

$100, maybe
The tie rod end can be replaced in minutes and the sway bar bolt is even simpler. If you can't do it yourself, email me, and I will do it for you.

I've taken my A6 to Reid Vann several times and they are very straightforward and honest in their pricing. If you feel the need to go to a dealer, then maybe try Parktown. Just don't go to Plaza!!!

Just a thought ! Tie Rod End replacement requires a wheel alignment check/adjust.Is anyone aware that A4 suspension has a setting
procedure that is called "Bump-Steer" ??
This measures steering angles in a raised position and in a loaded(lowered) position as well.
There is always someone cheaper. Please be sure of what you are getting. What about a warranty from Audi on the parts and labor?
