The house of terror (with a 3 car garage)
As some of you may know I found a listing for a 3 car garage single family house in fairfax for a good price. Maybe a little too good. We decided to take a tour. Here's what we found.
The outside is rundown but not so bad at first look
<img src="http://tomasz.data2net.org/gallery-albums/album113/026_G.jpg">
The skylight is busted and wrapped with a tarp
<img src="http://tomasz.data2net.org/gallery-albums/album113/056_G.sized.jpg">
A lovely hottub on the back deck. Half filled with runoff water and dirt.
<img src="http://tomasz.data2net.org/gallery-albums/album113/029_G.jpg">
Visible cracking on the facade (yes, those are xmas lights)
<img src="http://tomasz.data2net.org/gallery-albums/album113/034_G.jpg">
turns out to be a lot worse
<img src="http://tomasz.data2net.org/gallery-albums/album113/033_G.jpg">
also all the window and door frames are rotten and need to be replaced.
Inside, the result of the cracking is obvious
<img src="http://tomasz.data2net.org/gallery-albums/album113/036_G.jpg">
Lovely color scheme of the dining room.
<img src="http://tomasz.data2net.org/gallery-albums/album113/052_G.jpg">
The hardwood is basically destroyed. Also the wood in the entrance doesn't match the wood in the dining room
<img src="http://tomasz.data2net.org/gallery-albums/album113/054_G.jpg">
The kitchen. Basically homemade out of bought cabinets, tile, 2x4s and playwood. Nothing salvagable here.
<img src="http://tomasz.data2net.org/gallery-albums/album113/053_G.jpg">
The living room is tiled, but of course the tile doesn't match what's in the kitchen. All the wood trim has been ripped out and replaced with bare wood boards.
<img src="http://tomasz.data2net.org/gallery-albums/album113/046_G.jpg">
The finishing touch on the living room wall. Busted skylight in the corner.
<img src="http://tomasz.data2net.org/gallery-albums/album113/038_G.jpg">
Downstairs powder room was the only part that looked half decent.
<img src="http://tomasz.data2net.org/gallery-albums/album113/039_G.jpg">
Too bad it was next to the garage which smelled like the elephant house at the zoo x 10. I was able to stand about 5 seconds after which my eyes started to water and I thought I was gonna pass out. Not sure what was in there, but we found a bag of primate food in the driveway...
And then went upstairs, where we found this room
<img src="http://tomasz.data2net.org/gallery-albums/album113/047_G.jpg">
and this room
<img src="http://tomasz.data2net.org/gallery-albums/album113/048_G.jpg">
and the master suite, which actually wasn't horrible except for the carpets that stopped being beige and were somewhere in the orange territory.
<img src="http://tomasz.data2net.org/gallery-albums/album113/049_G.jpg">
The master bath was so disgusting I didn't want to touch anything. Pretty much all the tiles were busted and it smelled bad. Again, nothing worth saving, complete rebuild required.
<img src="http://tomasz.data2net.org/gallery-albums/album113/050_G.jpg">
But wait... there's more
then we went to the basement
we opened the door to the stairs
to be greeted by this
<img src="http://tomasz.data2net.org/gallery-albums/album113/040_G.jpg">
and from there it got worse
<img src="http://tomasz.data2net.org/gallery-albums/album113/041_G.jpg">
<img src="http://tomasz.data2net.org/gallery-albums/album113/042_G.jpg">
<img src="http://tomasz.data2net.org/gallery-albums/album113/044_G.jpg">
<img src="http://tomasz.data2net.org/gallery-albums/album113/043_G.jpg">
You know what, I think I'm not going to buy this house after all.

Wow. That's a disgrace. But then, anything can be fixed with enough money.
Maybe it's worth a serious low-ball offer.
What's the story on the prior owners? Obviously they had kids. Or maybe they WERE kids.
