Default Welp, I knew this day would come too soon...my brother killed my coupe. :/

The heater core developed a leak about 2 months back. I told him not to drive it much and get it back in town next weekend he had free so we (I) could spend the ENTIRE weekend replacing it.
Well, he didn't listen...and last week the leak turned real ugly. Long story short, he tried to limp it here (~2 hours drive) but didn't refill the coolant after the first 20 mile stint. He said it stopped smoking so much and the temp went down. Now the headgasket is blown.
PS - The lack of 'smoke' (steam) and the temp gauge going down was because there was no more water in the block...idiot!!!! What really kills me, I told him exactly what to do and what would happen if he didn't. The ultimate kicker is he killed his Golf diesel about a year back the EXACT SAME WAY!!

Needless to say, he's done getting any favors from me. He can ride his bike the 3 miles to/from work form now on. He's killed 3 cars in as many years; maybe if he bought his own car he'd take better care of it!

I dunno what I'm gonna do with the CQ now, it's not worth my time or money to do a headgasket and the heater core, I don't have the time/money for a 2nd car...again, and I'd hate to see it go to a scrapyard. *sigh*

The day I picked her up, back in March '00...

Default :( That's so sad. Still looks like she's in pretty good shape. How hard is it to knock out a

head gasket and heater core? I'd volunteer any amount of time to keep her alive.

Default Funny you should mention...

My friend has his '91 200 20vt w/ RS2 spec engine, and a lunched trans, that he offered at a decent price INCLUDING helping with the swap.
...Marriage is so overrated anyway. :P

Default Life is about choices and consequences...

He chose to disregard your instruction, so his consequence can be to go without a car OR to pay for the repair of the engine. Tough love Tony, that's sometimes the only way.

Sorry about the car.

That's a fvckin' shame. That would be a good car for some enthusiast somewhere.
