Got a mildly silly situation, could use some help...

My 1.8t AEB sludged itself to death in April. Corner mechanic did me a solid and found a relatively low milage motor to put in it, did it all for a VERY good price. He put back in my old turbo. This guy is great, but his English skills are super sketchy.

Since engine swap, turbo had been whining. No surprise there, prob got cooked in the previous meltdown, right? Have been driving it waiting for money to replace. Previous mechanic will put it in for free.

Thursday I think it gave up the ghost. Major loss of power, whining sound only goes maybe 25% as "high" as it did before. Dead, right? Unit has 116K on it, btw.

So my post is twofold; wanting to make sure my turbo is most likely dead as opposed to being a cat or wastegate issue, and also looking to find a seller of a healthy unit.

I have a K03 sport turbo from my 180 FWD TT I am trying to sell. I had put in a bigger one and kept the old one just in case but I have now traded in for the new TT. Let me know.
