Noob question - start with pads or go for full brake replacement?
<center><img src="http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i91/AudiAdvocate/IMG_5713.jpg"></center><p>2004 S4 V8 - 2-3 track events a year.
I like the look of OEM calipers (not too showy for Officer Bob).
Do better pads make a difference or is it necessary to go full bore with rotors/pads $$$?
Thanks!

Definitely ... just start with pads.
You can go a long way just swapping between a high performance daily-driving street pad and a full race pad for track events. My pad recommendations will be obvious from <a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a8/msgs/81590.phtml">This</a>.
I'd also suggest bleeding brakes before every track event. You inevitably firm up the pedal by removing an air bubble or two, and fresh dry brake fluid helps prevent boiling brake fluid fade.

$4-5K seems like a lot to blow on a whole brake system when our friends in Ingolstadt put so much effort into the OEM system.
I appreciate this advice on pads upgrade.
Cheers
