Default I know it's a tired topic (brake squeal). But my case is unique... looking for thoughts/ideas...

I have a 2001 allroad with the Hp2 brakes.

I recently replaced my brakes with std. rotors and nice carbotech bobcat ceramic (quiet) pads, and they were working great for about 500 miles, felt strong, smooth, quiet and the previous vibration I had was gone.

A week after I installed the new brakes I went camping. I spent some quality time messing around on gravel roads and end up with a terrible metal on metal grinding noise coming from the front passenger side wheel. The sounds was independent from applying the brakes, but slightly dependent on steering angle...

I had to stop and pull over, 500 miles away from home, jack-up the car and pull the wheel to find this (see rock below) jammed in the back side of the caliper.

It left a nasty groove in the rotor. (of course this happens right after I replace the brakes!) After I got the rock out the brake started squealing, only when the brakes are applied, and only when going slow... The squeal is getting worse and worse! To the point now that everyone stares or plugs their ears at stop lights...

I have pulled the rotor off and tried to sand it by hand, but the groove is still there. I have applied tons of the anit-squeel goo to the back of the pads and let it set-up over night... it just keeps getting worse. I think I'm going to go have the rotor turned, but it kinda sucks to have a rotor turned that is only 1000 miles old. Any other ideas?

The only brake making any noise is the one that met the rock...

Try doing a full re-bedding of the brake pads. This has cured many squeeky brakes.
