355mm BBK on a 17" wheel?
<center><img src="http://www.tirerack.com/images/wheels/ssr/swap/ssr_comp_sil_ci3_l.jpg"></center><p>I was flipping back an old issues of European Car (Feb 04). Where they feature an Audi S4(B5) shootout.
Anyways, one of the S4 had a set of the Brembo F50 caliper with 355mm rotors behind a 17x8.5 SSR Competition wheel.
Now my question is. Is it possible to fit a 355mm BBK from Stoptech with an oem 17" on an A4(B7/B6), maybe with spacers?

The SSR was a completely "lucky" fit.
That was Stan Lui's vehicle from Top Spin.
I worked on that car with him.
Unfortunately Stan made that wheel fit in a way that no one here at Brembo or Race Technologies would ever endorse.
Stan actually milled some material from the top of the caliper to gain the necessary clearance.
And when people see that article, the thought of 17's over a 14" (355mm) kit becomes very appealing. Then I have to be the one to tell them, "sorry, but not going to work".
That's one of the reasons we introduced the 332x32mm kit so late in the game. I really liked the bias and pedal feel from the 355x32mm kit soo much that I always recommended people to run 18" wheels to gain access to that system. When I got a chance to drive our 332x32 kit, I actually ended up really liking it.
It's lighter than the 355m kit and allows for the 17" wheel fitment. People who are really into weight savings should be buying the smaller kit. The pedal feel, control, and modulation on both systems is a very impressive improvement over stock.
355mm is the choice for those with 18" or larger wheels, those who prefer a nice firm, high pedal, and not to mention the "aesthetics" driven crowd.
332mm is the more track-day, enthusiast based option. Still a very firm pedal, but with more range for modulation in the pedal. Very OEM feeling until it's time to start late braking and using you feet to "drive" the car. Then it's very confidence inspiring when you really get on them.
Both kit's work as a front only or 4 wheel option with our 328mm rear system.
