Default Swapping Pads & Rotors - ->

I have a wicked vibration during high speed braking...

Stoptech 332's with AXXIS Deluxe. The car has never been tracked, so the notion that the rotor rings might be warped is unlikely, yet I did buy a replacement set of rings in the event I am wrong. I am hoping the cause is deposits on the rotor.

When changing to a more aggressive pad, in hopes of scrubbing the rotor clean, is there any downside to changing the pads and keeping the current rotor...and then if the vibration doesn't go away change the rotor rings while keeping the new pads??

Default no issues. you should re-bed the pads with new rotors.

My suggestion would be to take the car out, get the brakes up to temp, and mash on them until you smell them. If it doesn't go away, try with race pads.

have you checked for loose lugs, poor wheel balancing, bent wheel(s), etc.?

Default Checked all that...

I get the vibration with both my summer and winter wheels.

Wheel bolts are all tight.

No vibration other than heavy brake application when they are hot.

Default Had the same issue. Just replaced mine with Hawks blue pads ...

no vibration whatsoever with them. Will use them for a few more days, to make sure they clean up any residues, and then will try Axis again.

Thinking of getting XPS or Freddo, whenever I can.

Default Had the same issue. Replaced with Brembos.

Flame away.

(I did use Hawk Blues also, and they helped. Issue NEVER went away, but Hawk Blues helped.) And please tell me why you did not throw away the Axxiss Ultimates when EVERYONE tells you (even the ST lovers) that they are Ultimate crap?

Here is what StopTech told me: "Axxiss Ultimates are a good pad, but probably not heat resistant enough for a heavy car like the S4." So WTF you include them in the kit... you see I am loosing it. I always get in trouble when I come to his forum.

Good luck!
