Default Aftermarket single din head unit pics installed in my B7. (Minor BWW)

I wanted to post up some quick pics of my Pioneer P880PRS head unit. I was pretty concerned about how bad it would look, but I'm happy. It definitely looks aftermarket with the install kit, but the features and sound quality make up for that by a long way.

I suck at taking pics, and night pics are too difficult. Sorry for the poor quality.

Overall, the head unit's white lighting looks pretty darn good with the dash at night. If I dim the head unit's lighting a bit, it'll nearly perfectly match the dash. I like it a little brighter.

The brushed aluminum faceplate looks great with my S-Line's brushed aluminum trim, but the head unit is a little tinted making it less than perfect.

I LOVE the iPod control of the Pioneer. So nice!

In the end...sounds so sweet I almost can't stand it.

Default To the eye, does the display look more white or blue? It looks nice... the B7 plastic is very matte.

I would probably experiment with vinyl spray and the pocket and the trim ring to make them all match, but I'm kinda **** about that stuff

Default The display is PURE white. It's as white as white can be. The head unit's display is much better

in person than I expected. It's gorgeous! The lighting around the two ***** is the only weak point. They can be extremely bright if the dimmer is adjusted to mid to highest levels. It seems very disproportionate to the rest of the head unit's lighting.

I've seen many pics of the head unit on the internet. The pics on the Pioneer site are the most accurate. I've seen other pics that make the white look a little on the blue side but it's not at all.

I too thought about trying to match the plastics, but I know I'd most likely just screw it up. I'm going to be smart and leave well enough alone. =)

Seriously, like I said it definitely looks aftermarket, but not bad. The pics are very revealing, but in person it looks much better. If was to do anything, I might just purchase another install kit and try molding the pocket surround into the dash kit so it looks like one piece. I would then paint it with the paint you suggested. I think that would go a long way to improving the overall look. Hmm...

Check out this deck (single din) that JVC is releasing this month. It plays high quality DVD Audio and DVD Video on a 3.5 inch screen. Not to mention it has built in bluetooth with ability to view text and picture messages on the screen.

http://www.jvc.com/Resources/DocumentImages/00/00/05/88.JPG</a

That looks much less 'aftermarket' than many others I've seen - nice!!!

Default Thanks. It does still look aftermarket, but no one seems to make any negative comments and it

doesn't bother me either. And yes, they guys I work with are brutal. My Audi has to meet a certain level of expectations, and it appears I have still been able to maintain them with this setup.

The plastic seems to match except for the pocket trim. Am I wrong?

Default Exactly true. Avincar found some paint that matches perfectly. If inspired I could do that but...

I doubt I'll be inspired. =)
