Well, after all is said and done, we turned in the '06 and took delivery of our new A8 today. Initial impressions: I'd say a bit more firm in steering feel than the '06 A8, and also a slight improvement in ride quality; not as harsh in dynamic mode on bumps, and pleasantly firmer in auto mode. In all--the car is familiar, yet a tad different from the '06. Can't wait to get it out on the highway tomorrow to see how it handles at speed...but not too much speed during break-in ;^)
Here are some pics from delivery and a jaunt to the beach...

No, the sideview mirrors fold in-wards this time. Here are pics of the mirror & tail LEDs...

nice! thanks so much for sharing! but i have to ask, which side mirror u prefer?
I still kinda like the old style, more sexy although we all would agree it has poor visibility especially in the rain

Great pictures...what did decide on for the lease term?....
I need to sign papers tomorrow and will likely take the 3 year "deal" (stretching the meaning of the word more than just a little...) even though the 2 year would mean timing to turn in the '08 just as the new D4 comes out for MY 2010.

Went with 42 months. Figure that gets me to the D4 a year+ after launch. Should spare me...
...the 1st year "gremlins." Besides, the '08 is a good deal better than my '06, so the extra 6-month (beyond 3-years) wait until April 2011 shouldn't be that hard to take--and I'm not that keen on going thru this again any time soon ;^)
Enjoying the car????

From a visual point, I prefer the "old" style. However, I do like the added side visibility, plus...
...the integrated turn signal is really cool--the light corners the mirror, so the driver and car adjacent to you can see the light flashing. In all, I guess I prefer the new design.

I'll go with 36 months/15K miles and, like you, wait a year for the D4 to be debugged...
I really like the '08 as it's so familiar yet so different in positive ways (quiet, better ride, better steering). It really is amazing how the engineers at Audi can tweak and tune as the years go by for a specific platform to improve as it evolves. I'd like to think that they (Audi) are monitoring forums like those on AudiWorld to glean information that their engineers can use for focusing on "continuous improvement". I also know that some of the "improvements" are planned years in advance so, at the start of the new platform, they know they can and will make it better in successive years.
