Picked up an avant today

I check out a sedan on craigs list for $2200 and a avant on ebay that was listed for $3800.
I ended up getting the Avant after reading your replies and consulting the wife and evol jonathan..
I knew it had an ignition switch issue but I also found that some wires in the rear hatch were broken and the car liked the key so much it wouldn't give it back when I got home..
On the drive home, whenever I hit the brake the light on the radio went out and the defrost and rear fog lights came on, the pass side mirror also tilted down as if I put the car in reverse
WEIRD
but I think its fixed now and tomorrow I'll be picking up a new ignition switch.
here is a list of problems I came across so far....
ignition switch
missing characters on climate display
dead outside temp display
no horn
no alarm
no backup lights
no one touch on windows
missing lower pass grill
missing cap on rear wiper
parking brake is really stiff
and no cd changer WTF
On a good note it did drive very well and the check engine light was not on, YET

Hawt, I'd hit it!
Makes me want to get an avant.
Backup lights are either related to the trunk wires or the transmission multi function switch. I might be able to get you the lower grill too.

SWEET!! What year? Is it pearl or white? I have an extra temp display that's yours if you want it.
I still owe you one for the VW antenna you sent me.
The problem with the alarm could be a bad door switch, a bad hood switch, or a bad trunk switch. I have an extra trunk microswitch, too, if that turns out to be your problem.
Try pushing the window switch 'down' twice in quick succession and see if it activates the 'one touch' feature.

It's a 97 and pearl, seller too funky pics. Once I clean it up I'll shoot some more..
thanks for the offer on the temp display but I have one waiting, I'll try to install it before the weekend.
