EGR insuficient flow ........ yet another update.
When we last tuned in, my CEL was back on for EGR insuficient flow.
This after cleaning the EGR passage in the intake (twice) and confirming it was clean by being able to easily blow through it. Then finding a vacuum leak from a failed 3mm cloth braided hose and replacing all of those hoses, and then doing umpteen vacuum tests and discovering my EGR Solenoid over under the MAF had failed internally, and replacing it.
So, during this recent round of fun I discovered that I still have good vacuum all the way to the EGR valve, but probably have a valve that's sticking closed. It opens and functions fine when I suck on it with my mityvac hand vac pump, but my guess was that under the lesser vacuum supplied by the solenoid, it just wasn't being lifted open.
One member here suggested turning the screw on the cover of the little vacuum control goody that's snapped onto the side of the EGR Solenoid. I had a spare one, so I played around with it and discovered that turning the screw out allowed more air (vacuum) to pass through.
So, today I put my used and adjusted vacuum control goody on the car and went for a test drive. Could not get get the CEL to come back on!
For now, it looks like it's fixed. Hopefully this band-aid will be what's needed to keep the EGR system happy for a long time. I'm not in the mode (or mood) to spend too-fitty on an EGR valve.

I bypassed the "P" regulator with a hose coupler last week and so far the CEL is still off...
No obvious drivability problems either. Still too early to judge whether it's a good fix though.

You're welcome. Couldn't have done it without all the help and knowledge here.
Hopefully now with threads like this and the section I added to the FAQ's, it should be pretty much a no brainer.
We'll see if the CEL stays out for more than week!

Yes, my sentiments exactly...Many thanks for digging...
into this problem, and sharing your results. I have yet to dig into mine, but I will be doing so shortly, and all of your insight has been a great resource.
Many thanks again,
Ted
