I'm in the process of putting in a new stereo system and will take out the Delta and put in a DIN size head unit but wanted something a bit nicer than the plain black Metra dash filler plate. I found some nice burled walnut veneer on Ebay for a few bucks and went to town. After gluing I did very CAREFUL hand work, tons of sanding & shaping. The stuff is so thin that power tools would have torn it up so patience helped. Matching the factory color was tough so I found a couple of different stains combined gave me the right shade. After this I applied 7 or 8 coats of spray lacquer varnish, sanding after each coat. It's taken me a couple of weeks but it looks factory and really beautiful.
Here's another shot of my new HU, an older Sony I've had for years but it looks even more factory than the Delta unit, check out the shape of the buttons and how it looks like the climate control buttons in ours.It even has an old school "Walkman" input, perfect for an IPOD!
When I get it in I'll post a final pic.

Yup, they go green or orange/red. The Metra 99-9100 kit I got on Ebay for $16.
