Default Movin' On....it's been fun....

The email from 4driver4 flashed onto the screen, awaking GBW from his conference call on Sarbanes-Oxley requirements. Struggling to regain coconscious from a stupor induced by conversations on "separation of duties" and what "constituted a financial transaction" he was puzzled by the subject line containing nothing but "!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Initially GBW assumed that 4driver4 had also dozed off at work, resting his head on the keyboard, but at this point any distraction would do. He clicked the email open.

Within the email was a link to AudiWorld; probably another AWOT link GBW assumed, with some topic that was not going to be work friendly or would be so funny that he'd be choking back the laughter as his peers rushed to his aid, only to realize that, well, he wasn't working. Realizing that he could either continue with the conference call, or do something interesting, he clicked on the link.

As the page opened, GBW realized that perhaps years of frustration and disappointment looking for a Sport Seats and a 6 speed, might finally be ending....4driver4 had a post of somebody less than one hour away looking to sell their 6 speed, Sport Package 2.7t. Faster than you could say "improved corporate governance" an email was on its way to Ritz with great hopes of landing the ultra elusive (some would say Urban Myth) Sport Package 2.7t. Unfortunately that that email, sent with tremendous speed and mile high hopes was sent to an old email address for Ritz, but we finally synced up.

GBW and Ritz were owners of fraternal twins separated at birth: 2001 2.7t's, Ming Blue with the Cold, Premium, Preferred Luxury Packages and PhatNoise. Major differences were the transmission and sport package. Initially, we were going to do a trade since he was looking for an automatic for Mrs Ritz and I was looking for Sport with a 6 speed (NOT for Mrs. GBW).

The rendezvous took place a local Chili's on a sunny but chilly morning. Bac2h and I went to meet Ritz and the elusive A6, and I still think I saw a Xenon headlight dip, and heard a sigh from the Ming Monster as Ritz pulled into the parking lot manually shifting gears; she knew the truth. After introductions, we turned our attention to the cars, and took a run up RT-8 and back through some back roads, that Bach2h knew of to stretch the Ming legs. A quick lunch at a local place where Ritz graciously picked up the tab (thanks!) and it seemed that we were in a good place; the dream might finally be have a happy ending. Finally. Upon my arrival home, without saying a word, Mrs. GBW knew. Quietly, quietly she went to another room, and with a heavy heart, scheduled a return visit for GBW at the world renowned Boston Driver Rehab clinic. Yet again the clinic had failed. Addictions are so hard to control

But as quickly as that email from 4driver4 arrived, the allure of a 6.1L engine entered the mix and it was not to be. GBW was going to be the first loser in the sport package frenzy.....again. My search for the elusive Titanium Sport Seats would need to continue....again. Ecstatically, Mrs GBW canceled the appointment, and with that action some other family would rejoice at being able to send their family member to the clinic (are we missing anybody today?).

But perhaps Mrs GBW was a little premature canceling that appointment; there was a new twist to the saga, one that left my friends and peers speechless and shaking their heads. They had followed my downward spiral over the years, suspension upgrades, 4.2 door blades, S6 Aluminum Mirrors, 4.2 Sport Wheels, H-Sports, countless hours on AudiWorld....madness only ending when the GIAC S and Tip Chips were installed. A family intervention forced a long stay at the Boston Driver Rehab Clinic, hoping for a cure.

But on February 16th, they realized all hope was lost. As GBW's loving family gazed sadly into the garage and driveway, not a word was spoken. The deafening silence was broken by the innocence of an 8 year old as she said, with bewilderment dripping from her innocent voice and a very puzzled look on her face....."Daddy, why do you have two blue cars, they're the same?" Yes, a new low had been established....GBW had outright purchased another Ming Blue A6 from Ritz.

So thanks again to each of you for all your support over the years. That manic laughing you've been hearing is me as the turbos spool up and deliver a huge amount of torque to go with my smile and those seats hold me in place. And if you listen just a little bit more closely, you can faintly hear the same laughter over the roar of a 6.1l engine in southwest Connecticut as Ritz pushes that SRT-8....let's hope he continues to visit us here on AudiWorld....we're all automotive enthusiasts.

Oh, you're still stuck with me...it's only Ming Monster I that's moving on...Ming Monster II and I will still be hanging out with all of you here on AudiWorld...

Default Awesome! SO glad that it worked out...for BOTH of you...

...I know that you have been itching for a set of sport seats AND you sounded so excited about a manual tranny. I just hope that ming monster II will treat you as well as the original!

Can't wait to see the new ride up close. Let me know when you are coming up to see Billy!!!
