Default 100,000 mile tune up question

My car: 2003 A6 2.7T w/ 97,000 miles

Just finished my 100k mile tune-up. I also decided to upgrade to Mobile-1 synthetic oil, K&N perminent filter, Euridium (sp?) spark plugs and a bosche fuel filter).
My question is: with the upgrade to the quality of these parts and oil, should I notice a significant upgrade in the drive of my car? In other words, although I'm glad I decided to "treat" my car, I thought I would feel the car driving much faster, but I haven't really noticed much of a difference. Should these particular changes increase my horsepower?
Thanks for your thoughts.
Joe

Default I'm not sure what you were expecting, but you should be running mobil 1

or some synthetic oil anyway, so I'm not sure that's a tune-up item. The K&N filter should be thrown in the trash, not in your car. Those things get oil all over our MAFs and can really f them up. FYI, it's Iridium, and unless yours had like 100k miles on them, you're not going to see a performance "increase". Sheesh, what did you expect, 100 hp or something? And, since we run 93 octane, you're not likely to have a clogged fuel filter anyway, though it never hurts to change them.

No, you're not going to see much, if any gains, at most a couple of horsepower, and unless you increase by 10% or more, you'll never know it.

Default Re: I like a guy who calls a spade a spade:)

Re: the increase in HP, I did expect to feel a difference (not 100+ mind you, but at least some sort of difference). Heretofore, I've been using standard plugs, reg. oil, filter, etc. I thought if I paid up (and boy did I pay up), that the increase would be noticable. Your answer (although loaded with a lot of verbal barbs) has helped me a lot. Since the outcome was not significant i guess I can assume that I've taken pretty good care of my car in the past.
And what the heck, when I turn 100 I hope someone takes as much care of me!

Thanks again for your thoughts quickaudi.

Default no matter what spark plugs u put in your never going to feel a difference

you could have a really worn air filter and swap in a new one and not feel the difference. To increase hp you have to increase fuel and increase air thats going into your motor.

Default Re: Does that mean I don't need to pay up for the K&N air filter or use irdium plugs?

Any thoughts on inexpensive (less then $500) ways to increase the air intake or fuel? Also, not exactly sure what you mean by increase fuel -- are you talking about using 93 octane?
thanks for the reply.

Default not true in regards to the air filter. if you have an extremely dirty air filter like the

one that had 30k miles on it when I bought it, you'll hurt your gas mileage. Mine went from 24 to 26 mpg when I swapped out air filters. That's good for some "lost" horsepower.

Default um, you should never use anything less than 93 octane with this car. if you are,

then prepare to kiss your engine goodbye. 91 is the least you can use, and it'll definitely make your car slower. As for the K&N, toss it in the trash. They don't do anything but clog up your MAF with all the oil on them.

as for increasing air, search the archives for a Darintake DIY.

Default the stock plugs are fine, even if you are chipped. you're just not going to make it combust

any better than it already does. Regular oil doesn't do as well in our high performance turbos as they get really hot and spin really fast. Run synthetic oil, period.
