Default To chip or not to chip?

I have a 2002 A4 1.8t Quattro. 5 speed with 27k miles. No mods done yet. What are the pros and cons of chipping? If I decide to chip, which one should I buy, and can I hook it up myself? Should I consider other mods before I buy a chip? How does a chip work? and what kind of horsepower should I expect with no other mods aside from the chip? do you really get 30 horsepower?

Default Chip the car!

You will not regret it. We work with GIAC exclusively. You will see 30 hp and 50 ft/lbs of torque instantly! The rev limiter is raised and the top speed limiter is removed. GIAC offers very smooth power throughout the power band and retains all stock safety systems and reliability.
You will have to send us your ECU or come by with the car. We can have the job done in about an hour. Other supporting mods would be an upgraded diverter valve and drop in air filter. Both of which we have in stock. After that, think exhaust. We happen to have that in stock too!

Default Chip the car!

Hey, thanks for the advice. But what are some of the drawbacks or common problems associated with chips? Also what is the total cost including install. I live in Santa Cruz CA where should I get it installed? Also, I just installed eibach pro-kit lowering springs with 8.5 by 19 inch wheels. Does that have any effect on chipping?

Default The suspension will have no bearing on the chip....

There are no real drawbacks. The programming keeps the turbo well within its safe operating range and the motor can certainly handle the added power. The chip will really wake up the car and bring out more of its potential. More power, quicker throttle response and a higher top speed are definitly not drawbacks. How you choose to use it and the opinions of local traffic cops is another story.

The cost will be $495.00 plus labor if you take it to a local shop. You also have the option to send me your ECU and I can flash it and ship it out in the same day. Sending it next day air on a Monday gets it back in your hands by Wednesday

Is there a warranty on the items or does it void the existing AUDI factory warranty??? I have had many people be chaged for work not normally chargable because of a chip or modified ECU...

Your input is greatly appreciated..

PS do you warranty any of the thing that you do or that you will be modifying??

Default GIAC offers a 30 day money back guarantee for the software plus....

We stand behind everything we do. Should problems arise you can always count on us to support you and the product. With the flashes, I have yet to see a problem. As far as the Audi warranty goes, officially they could give you some grief but that's only if you let them know the car is flashed. We recommend getting the stock mode installed so you can use the flash loader to revert back to stock and the dealer will have no idea the car is flashed. GIAC has also made the software undetectable and completely overwriteable. This means that the dealer could reflash the computer to do a routine upgrade and have no idea the programming is in there.
