What oil do you use?
I ask as mine showed no signs of the buildup visible in your engine. I'm wondering if it's the difference between long time use of dino vs synthetic oils?

I've used different kinds and both dino and synthetic. My avg oil change is at 5k depending on
the weather and long vs. short trips. My last oil change I started using castrol 0-30 and have been adding dino because of a big leak due to rear cam seal. I'm going to do my next oil change with Rotella 5-40.

Suggestion: use (1) qt reg ATF as part of the next oil change. The strong detergents will help...
desolve the sludge build-up that you have. An individual I knew did this regularly in his car to keep his engine clean and seemed to work well.

I've taken the valve cover off before, so it may have taken me 10mins of less.
I just popped the seal out with a screw driver, it just 'sits' there. You only need to remove the rear most cam holder.

there's nothing holding the seal once you remove the rear most cam holder, you just pop off the old

one and slide on the new one. The cam holder just needed a little tap from a rubber mallet to loosen the kung-fu sludge hold.
