I've found that using some good Wax or Polish on the wheels makes for a much easier clean up when they do get dirty...I've used some of the synthetic stuff too - Klasse for example -

Default Well a good spell checker and some wax works great. But the best is to switch to
aftermarket pads - like Mintex Red Box<ul><li><a href="http://www.iespell.com/">iespell</a></li></ul>

2nd. I used carnuba and they do clean up quite a bit easier when washing.

Default I use Meguire's Wheel Cleaner.
I am running Hawk HP+ that stop great, but put out a lot of dust. I clean my wheels once a week.
