2007 A6 Quattro original tire replacement suggestions
Hi, originally posted below, advised to ask here instead:

Hi, new forum user, looking for some advice on replacement tires.
2007 A6 Quattro with original factory Pirelli P6 Four Seasons P245/45 R17 99H.
About 44K miles, front tires need replacing.
This car has never seen snow, it drives around LA / Southern California, so the four season tires is not really required.
I can replace with exactly the same P6 Four Seasons, but I wonder if there is something newer / better I should be looking at?
Is it a bad idea to replace the two front tires with a model different than the rear tires?
Any advice welcomed.
P.

I would add, that based on pricing I see at TireRack, I can get 4 new tires for +-$200 range compared to the $675 installed quote I got for 2 replacement P6's at a local shop.

If you are just replacing two tires, it is definitely best to match to the same brand and model of tire to avoid unstable handling. If you're replacing all four tires, top choices would include the Continental Pure Contact and Hankook Noble S1 Noble2.

I would like to add that if you replace only the fronts - then the tread depth must be within 4/32nd of the existing tires or you will burn out your dif.

I select Audi 2007 A6 Quattro Base Model, I select the 245/45-17 option (original is 99H)
For 99H+ rated I do see the Hankook Ventus S1 Noble2 / V12 evo2 and Continental ContiProContact?
