Default Cleaning rims with painted and polished surfaces?

Whatcha use?

I figure I'll just use soap/water unless I find it needs something stronger...

Default Since they're painted, I also use Detailing spray on a regular basis to clean wheels with no ill

effects.

nothing wrong, but waxing is not for cleaning per se. It's for protecting already clean surfaces.

.
For painted surfaces: soad & water and sometimes wax.

For polished surfaces: On my HRE's, I use "Eagle One Billet Aluminum Polish" on the polished aluminum outers. This was recommended by HRE and works very well.

Default Good results with these two products: Audi's own (acidic) or P21S Wheel Cleaner (non-acidic)...

I prefer the non-acidic, because wheels get scrapes and nicks, and acid can discolor the bare metal. Don't assume paint and clearcoat is everywhere to protect them. I use the P21S and use wax on my clear-coated alloy wheels.

If you use Audi's wheel cleaner (made by Eagle One, I believe), wash it off in 20 seconds. The P21S Wheel Cleaner is great, non acidic, no complaints, and available in small trial size and refills at:

http://www.classic-accessories.com</a

I wouldn't use anything acidic, whether Audi recommends it or not
