Tire questions for A6 4.2 sport
It's time to replace the original tires on my 2001 A6 4.2 with factory sport package using 255/40/17 Pirelli P6000. I have 10,000 miles on them and they are just about to hit the tread wear bars.
I want to find a tire that lasts longer and is quieter. Of course, I want excellent dry and wet traction, but let's put this in context. I don't take the car to the track, so excellent traction for me refers to somewhat aggressive driving on normal roads and twisties.
I am also thinking about all season to get the higher treadwear and to handle the occasional minor snow (1 - 2") where I live in NC.
I am really interested in the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S, but it doesn't come in 255/40/17.
So, I am thinking about the Michelins in 235/45/17 (1.2% too slow on speedometer) or 245/40/17 (1.3% too fast on speedometer).
Any guidance on which size to pick?
Any other tires you all would suggest?
